Stephen Robert Killen, 68, of Hopatcong, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 19, 2017 at the VA Medical Center, Lyons Hospital in Bernards Township, NJ.
Born in Newark, on November 26, 1948 to the late Robert and Dorothy (Brubaker) Killen, Stephen grew up in Belleville prior to moving to Hopatcong 39 years ago. He was a proud Vietnam War Veteran, serving in the United States Navy from 1966-1969. Stephen earned the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon and the National Defense Service Medal. He enjoyed golfing, trips to the casinos and deep sea fishing. He was a very talented woodworker and always kept busy with various hobbies. Stephen was well known for his terrific sense of humor and upbeat personality.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen (Segreto), daughter Lisa Magrini and husband, Brian, a son, Stephen and fiancée, Christine, three grandchildren, Brielle and Ava Magrini and Tyler Killen, three siblings, John and Bobby Killen and Nancy Feldkamp and many nieces and nephews.
Stephen was predeceased by his loyal canine companion "Biscuit".
Stephen's Life Celebration will include visiting on Monday April 24 from 3-7 PM at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday April 25 beginning at 10:30 AM at St. Jude Parish, 17 Mt. Olive Road, Budd Lake, NJ. Stephen will be laid to rest at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ.
