Thomas "Tommy" Morrison of Hopatcong, NJ passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old. Born in Scranton, Pa. on December 19, 1939 to Thomas F. Morrison and Margaret T. (Shea) Morrison.
He lived around the Scranton area until the age of 18 years old. He moved to New Jersey in September of 1957. In January of 1958, he took a job as a machine apprentice at McWilliams Forge Co. in Rockaway, NJ. He lived in the Dover area until February of 1963 when he moved to Hopatcong, NJ. In 1971, Tommy was sworn in as a full time police officer in the Borough of Hopatcong. During his career, he served in the Patrol Division and the Detective Bureau. He retired on December 31, 1996. Tommy was a member of the Hopatcong PBA Local #149, an exempt member of the Hopatcong Fire Department Company #4, an exempt member of the Hopatcong Ambulance Squad, the Musconetcong Lodge #42 Free & Accepted Masons and the Blue Knights Chapter IX. He enjoyed his morning routine to the deli for coffee to catch up with the guy's, a stop at Nester's and visit with Scotty. He loved spending time with his family and friends, ice skating, riding his motorcycle and fishing on Bear Pond.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Deborah (Hartley), his daughters, Lisa Morrison and Kathleen Morrison Appleby & her husband, Ronnie, and his cherished twin grandchildren, Ronald Morrison Appleby and Thomas Morrison Appleby, his pre-deceased son Thomas Robert Morrison, Jr. in May of 2017, his sister Ann Marie (Morrison) Rinaldi and husband Joseph and too many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends to mention.
Tommy's Life Celebration Services will include a Memorial Gathering on Wednesday, October 4th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a Fireman's Prayer Service and Policeman's Final Inspection Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 pm also at the Funeral Home. All services are entrusted the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home.
