Obituary of Claude R. Cardot

Claude R. Cardot, 81, of Hopatcong, passed away, at home, on Friday August 26, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Longuyon, France, on October 18, 1934 to the late Emma and Jules Paul Cardot, Claude came to the United States in 1954 and learned the English language at Julia Richman High School in New York City. He also attended the School of World Trade in New York City and was a member of the French/American Chamber of Commerce. Claude was an executive in the shipping industry and founded Freetrade Container Lines where he served as President until his retirement in 1998. He enjoyed gardening, walking, cycling, sailing and traveling and was an avid fan of tennis and soccer. Survivors include his loving wife, Arline (Hamilton), son, Paul Cardot, a daughter Claudia Evans and her husband, Greg, three grandchildren, Samantha, Steven and Ben Evans and several nieces and nephews. Claude was predeceased by three sisters, Therese, Paulette and Gilberte. Claude's Life Celebration will include a memorial gathering on Wednesday September 7, 2016 from 4-7:30PM at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A prayer service will be offered at 7PM during the memorial gathering. For memorial donations, please consider donating to Cure PSP at www.psp.org.
