Elayne Black

Obituary of Elayne Black

Elayne Black of Mt. Arlington, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3rd at the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice Home in Fredon surrounded by family. She was 78 years old. Elayne was born on November 1, 1938 in Newark, NJ to the late Joseph and Anna (Ferens) Perry. She resided in Mt. Arlington for the past 17 years and previous to that, she lived in Hackettstown and the Jersey shore. Elayne was a travel agent at Skyland Travel in Hackettstown. She enjoyed living on Lake Hopatcong, having a nice glass of wine, painting, going on cruises, traveling the world, and most importantly Elayne loved spending this time with her family and many friends. Elayne is survived by her daughter, Karen Koster & her husband, Eddie, her son, Michael Davey & his wife, Ellen and her cherished grandchildren, Kayla, Bart, Eddie Jr., Erin, Josh, Leah, Adam, Kyle, Sean and Grace. Additional survivors include her sister, Joanne & her husband, Geof, her brother, Billy & his wife, Jo-Ann, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harry and her brother, Joe. Her gross exaggeration of the most boring series of events will be greatly missed. She spent time watching “COPS” and critiquing movies as she felt she should be able to vote in the Academy Awards. But most importantly she enjoyed partaking in all types of family shenanigans. Her love of life was as important to her as her love, pride and enjoyment of her grandchildren and their accomplishment as well as all those who called her “Mema”! Elayne’s Life Celebration will include visitation on Friday, April 7th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a funeral mass on Saturday, April 8th at 10:00 am at St. Michael’s RC Church, 4 Church Street, in Netcong, NJ. Cremation will be conducted privately. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860.
