Obituary of Arline "Lynne" Lazarus

Arline "Lynne" Lazarus of Mt. Arlington, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at St. Clare's Hospital surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She was 88 years old. Lynne was born on March 22, 1929 in New York City to the late Maurice and the late Betsy (Gold) Lewis. She resided in Mt. Arlington for the past three years and prior to that, lived in Fort Lee, NJ where she was a real estate agent for Weichert before retiring. However, it was in Fair Lawn, NJ that she dedicated her life to reversing racial division and spreading awareness. Her profound concern for equality led her to become an activist for human rights and a member of the ACLU, the New Democratic Coalition, and Another Mother for Peace. As passionate as Lynne was at effecting change for equality, she was part of the movement to end the war in Vietnam and bring home our boys. In the ensuing years, she and her husband enjoyed many trips around the world including an African safari, a river cruise down the Amazon and stops in Egypt and Israel. Of all the things that impassioned Lynne, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her beloved family. Lynne is survived by her devoted daughter, Cindy McCarthy & her husband, Kevin, her devoted son, Cliff, her cherished grandchildren, Michael, Julie and Kristie, and her adored great-grandchildren, Kael, Trevor, Jax, Silas, Regan, and Seamus. She is also survived by her brother Robert Lewis. She was predeceased by her husband, Maxwell. Lynne's Life Celebration will include a Celebration of Life gathering at the Horseshoe Lake picnic area in Roxbury, NJ, at 6 pm, Monday, May 15, 2017.
