Obituary of Pasquale Amato

Pasquale James Amato Jr., 76, of Bellerose, NY passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Calvary Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. He joins his loving wife, Vanessa, who also recently passed just 46 days earlier. Pasquale was born on December 10, 1941 in Dover, NJ to the late Pasquale J. and the late Theresa Maria (Casella) Amato. He is survived by his brothers Jack Amato and spouse Linda Amato, and Vito Amato, his adored nephews and nieces, Jack and spouse Kathy Amato, Patricia (Amato) and spouse Brian Jones, Brian and spouse Suzanne Amato, Robert and spouse Amanda Amato and Rita (Amato) and spouse Richard Priester, in addition to many loving grandnephews, grandnieces and cousins. Pasquale grew up in Port Morris NJ and graduated from Roxbury High School where he was a member of the football team. On September 11th, 1961 he joined The United States Army where he completed special training in Counter-Insurgency, Emergency Medical Training and Amphibious Training. He was also awarded his Marksman badge specifically in the use of the Carbine rifle. Stationed in Panama, Central America, he proudly served our nation until his Honorable Discharge as PFC on January 10th, 1967. Upon returning to the states he worked as a butcher for The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, better known as the A&P, followed by employment as a Copier Sales Representative. In 1991, Pasquale established his own business AAA & Associates, INC. DBA AAA Fire Extinguisher where he continued his employment until retirement. After marrying his lovely wife Vanessa Brandeis in August of 1974, they relocated to Queens, NY where they lived together for 43 years until their passing within weeks of each other. Both Pasquale and Vanessa were avid animal lovers and opened their home to help brighten the lives of many dogs and cats in need of rescue. Pasquale will be remembered fondly as a cheerful optimist with a comedic gift of sarcasm which was sure to lift the spirits of anyone in need. Pasquale's Life Celebration will include visiting on Wednesday February 21st, 2018 from 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A prayer service will begin Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Pasquale will be laid to rest at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Township following the service.
