Obituary of Arthur G. Smith

Arthur G. Smith, 82, of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 28, 1942 in Ithaca, NY to the late Kenneth and the late Eloise (Malone) Smith, Arthur served proudly in the United States Army achieving the rank of Captain. Arthur was a Radio and Telecommunications specialist for JP Morgan Chase, New York, NY. He enjoyed boating, fishing, snowmobiling, hiking and playing golf. Arthur was a parishioner at St. Jude's RC Church in Hopatcong, NJ and St. Kateri RC Church in Sparta, NJ.

Arthur was predeceased by two daughters; Catherine and Elizabeth and a brother; William.

Survivors include his wife; Mary Jeanne (Hill), daughter Michele Bielawski, son-in-law; Edward Bielawski and grandson; Daniel Bielawski.

Arthur's Life Celebration will include visitation on Thursday February 6, 2025 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday February 7, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Jude RC Church at 40 Maxim Drive in Hopatcong, NJ. Arthur will be laid to rest at Woodlawn National Cemetery, 1825 Davis Street, Elmira, NY on Monday February 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM. All are invited to meet directly at the cemetery for graveside services. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
