Obituary of Maureen Sturm

Maureen Sturm, 90, of Hopatcong, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Merry Heart Healthcare Center in Succasunna, NJ, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on November 2, 1934, in Teaneck, NJ, to the late Robert and the late Mary (Driscoll) Smith, Maureen earned her license as a Registered Nurse (RN) from Holy Name Medical Center School of Nursing in 1956.  Maureen worked as an RN for twenty years at Riverside Hospital in Boonton followed by twenty years with the Visiting Nurse Association of Northern, NJ, prior to her retirement.

Maureen was a devoted parishioner of St. Jude RC Church in Hopatcong, a member of their Rosary Altar Society and a member of the church choir.  She also enjoyed reading fiction stories, but most importantly, Maureen loved spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband Frank J. Sturm, her children Francis Sturm and his wife Julie; Greg Sturm and his wife, Pamela; Monica Goscicki and her husband Daniel; Mark Sturm and his wife Pamela; and Katharine Bennett and her husband Jerry. Maureen also leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Derek, Ryan, Ruth, Breana, Luke, Miranda, Kieran, Austin, Sean, Matthew and Christopher.

Maureen’s Life Celebration will include visitation on Tuesday, February 18 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.  A funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday, February 19 beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Jude RC Church, Hopatcong, NJ.  Maureen will be laid to rest at Good Shepherd Cemetery, Green Township, NJ immediately following Mass.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude R.C.
