Obituary of Eric Vreeland

Eric Robert "Elmo" Vreeland, 58, passed away on March 15, 2025, in Hopatcong, New Jersey.

Born on February 26, 1967, in Dover, New Jersey, Eric was a proud graduate of Hopatcong High School, Class of 1985. He furthered his education at RETS Electronics School, graduating in 1987. Throughout his career, he worked as an elevator mechanic at Herk Elevator and was also a partner in ReLax Travel Agency. Additionally, he spent time working at Time Out and Under the Boardwalk Bar & Restaurants.

Eric found joy in spending time on Lake Hopatcong and Bear Pond with friends. A devoted sports fan, he loved watching games and sharing his enthusiasm with those around him. Known for his warm personality and kind spirit, Eric—affectionately called "Elmo"—was deeply loved by all who knew him.

He is survived by his sister Patricia Vreeland, his stepmother Jeannette Vreeland and his ex wife Arleen Swart. He was predeceased by his parents, Milton R. & Katherine M. Vreeland; his brother Michael J. "Buff" Vreeland; and his grandparents Daniel & Irene Rigney, and Charles & Jennie Vreeland.

A memorial service to honor Eric's life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, located at 150 Landing Rd, Landing, New Jersey 07850.

Eric's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
