I’m very sorry for your loss , Coach Barnish was An amazing track and field coach he always cheered me and my teammates during track meets and he always seemed proud of us all. May he rest in eternal peace .

Saddened and shocked to just hear of this. I sat with Dave on the Hopatcong Recreation Commission for many years and he coached both my sons in the Hawks Track program for even more. He was the quintessential volunteer; in addition to being a devoted helper back in 2010 with the Run for Jordan. (Hopatcong's largest fund raiser and 5K run to date.) I will always remember Dave as mild mannered, calm, cool, and collected. Working with kids challenges that, and Dave never lost his composure. RIP Dave, I hope you're sipping some darn good bourbon up there.

I would like to send my condolences to David's family. I worked with Dave soo many years ago at Pettit and have really good memories of Dave. So sorry to hear of Coach Barnish's passing. Sending all my love to Kathryn, Matt, and Michelle.
Had the honor to have him as my coach from 4th-8th grade and to put in volunteer time to the track program I loved so much. He put his heart and soul into the track program, and he will be greatly missed.
