

Obituary of Patrick T. Meehan
Patrick Thomas Meehan, 88 of Hopatcong passed away peacefully on Friday March 28, 2025, at Morristown Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Born on March 9, 1937, in Washington Heights New York to the late Patrick Thomas Meehan and Margaret (Alice) Meehan. He was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School. He enlisted in US Navy to serve his country during the Korean war conflict. At the conclusion of his service to his country, Patrick began work at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, in the admission department, he met numerous acclaimed personalities such as Elizabeth Taylor, and Mike Todd. He also met the love of his life, his former spouse Elizabeth Meehan at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital He is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickson University with a master's degree in business administration. His career also includes a time in geriatric care as a nursing home administrator.
He resided in Budd Lake NJ prior to moving to Hopatcong in 2024. Patrick enjoyed reading, murder mysteries, especially by author James Paterson. He also enjoyed watching British murder mysteries on PBS, as well as listing to traditional Irish music and jazz music. In his younger years, he also enjoyed fishing with his son Kevin, and the occasional hunting trip in New England. He also enjoyed going flea markets & antique stores with his children.
In addition to his parents, Patrick was predeceased by his sibling Joseph Meehan, Albert Meehan, and former spouse Elizabeth Gorczyca Meehan.
He is survived by his daughter Marya Meehan of Hopatcong, his daughter Kathleen Meehan-Kiermeier of Deptford NJ, son Kevin Meehan of Wharton NJ and daughter Erin Meehan of Sussex NJ.
Grandchildren Brenna Meehan, Devin Meehan, Kelsie Lynn Kiermeier, Aidan Kiermeier, great grandchildren Charlotte and Mason Meehan. Daughter in Law Elizabeth Seal-Meehan, Son in law Edward Kiermeier Jr. Other family members include future Daughter in Law Meghan Van Vilet and Benjamin Van Vilet as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of Life ceremony to be held at later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you cherish your time with your loved ones in Patrick's memory.
