Obituary of Martha Pergola

Nelida "Martha" Pergola, aged 86, of Ledgewood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 27, 1938, in Chanar Ladeado, Provincia de Santa Fe, Argentina. Martha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose strength and love formed the foundation of her family. 

Martha and her beloved husband, Salvatore Pergola, shared 67 wonderful years of marriage, exemplifying a partnership filled with love and mutual respect. Together, they raised four daughters: Vivian (and former spouse Joseph), Patricia (and husband Marcelo), Sonia (and husband Eduardo), and Elizabeth (and former spouse Fabian), instilling in them strong family values. Her legacy continues through her nine cherished grandchildren: Girolamo, Eric (and wife Kathryn), Jesica, Lucas (and wife Martina), Patrick, Alejandro (and partner Alejandra), Mauricio, Salvatore, and Gaston; and her precious great-granddaughter, Scarlett, whose presence brought endless joy and smiles to Martha's life.

 Professionally, Martha had a passion for her work in the accounting field, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and a strong work ethic. Beyond her professional life, she and Salvatore shared a love of travel, exploring new destinations together and creating cherished memories with their family. Martha also had an undeniable passion for slot machines, finding joy and excitement in her visits to casinos. Known for her fighting spirit and steady dedication, Martha was a pillar of strength for her family and friends. Her nurturing nature and boundless generosity extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of many both in New Jersey and her native Argentina. Martha's home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and her delicious cooking. She created a haven for all who entered.

 Martha's Life Celebration Services will include a Visitation on Sunday, April 6th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. There will be a Catholic Prayer Service offered on Monday morning April 7th at 10:00 am also at the funeral Home. Martha will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery in Wharton, NJ immediately following the Prayer Service.

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the remarkable woman who graced their lives with love and wisdom. Martha's spirit and enduring love will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew her.
