Obituary of Frances Martin

Frances Martin, 85, of Byram Township, NJ passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025 at Hackettstown Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 25, 1940 in Newburgh, NY to the late Benjamin and Natalie (Kwiatkowski) Borkowski, her mom passed away when Frances was just one year old.  As a result, Frances was lovingly raised by members of her father’s family.  Frances grew up in Staten Island, NY and moved to Byram with her family in 1969. 

Frances worked for the NJ Department of Environmental Protection at Stephen’s State Park where visitors often became friends. 

She was an avid crocheter.  Frances also enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, word games, computer games, trivia and she loved a good pun.  Frances thoroughly enjoyed her many visits to Brook Hollow Winery in Blairstown, NJ where she was treated as one of the family.

Frances was predeceased by her husband; William in 1989 and her sister; Carol Higgins.

Survivors include four children; Sean Martin, Randy and his wife; Margaret, Tara and her life partner; Daniel Bianco and Kerri Martin, four grandchildren; Lyle Martin, Cody Martin and his wife; Lauren, Ashley Forik and her husband Dylon and Tyler Davies and his wife; Brittany Bird, and two great grandchildren; Mila Forik and Harrison Martin.

Frances’ Life Celebration will include visiting on Wednesday April 23, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.  A prayer service will be offered on Thursday April 24, 2025 beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.  Frances will be laid to rest at Stanhope Union Cemetery, Mt. Olive Township, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to a charity of your choice.
