

Obituary of Douglas Lessig
Douglas Lessig of Landing and Hopatcong, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at St. Clare’s Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born on June 10, 1953, in Philadelphia, PA, to Carl T. Lessig (first) and Dolores B. Lessig.
Doug was a beloved father who loved spending time with his kids out on Lake Hopatcong, tubing and water skiing. He enjoyed watching and playing sports with his son, Brandon—especially basketball and baseball—and proudly served as a basketball referee for many years. He loved watching his kids, Brandon and Morgan, play basketball. Doug also loved his sushi dates with his daughter Rachel, sharing laughs and quality time over their favorite rolls. He also loved going down the Shore, where he spent countless hours riding his bike throughout the shores of Seaside Heights and enjoying the company of his many friends. He was a longtime resident of both Hopatcong and the Landing section of Roxbury Township. Doug owned and operated West Shore Paving & Construction in Hopatcong for over 30 years.
Doug is survived by his wife of 26 years, Karla; his son, Brandon Lessig; his daughters, Rachel Lessig and Morgan Lessig; and his siblings, Carl Lessig II, Vaughn Lessig, and Laurie Ann Irwin. Additional survivors include his brothers-in-law, Gary Irwin and Kurt Meyer; his sister-in-law, Lynne Capuano; his nieces, Lindsey Irwin and Shanna Irwin; and his nephews, Carl "Buddy" Lessig III and Chas Lessig, along with several cousins and many dear friends. Doug was predeceased by his brothers, Craig Lessig and John Lessig, and his parents, Carl T. Lessig (first) and Dolores B. Lessig.
Douglas’s Celebration of Life services will include a visitation on Friday, May 9th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service offered at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850.
