

Obituary of Leon Lucatelli
Leon Lucatelli, 95, lifelong Netcong resident, passed away peacefully on Friday May 9, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Netcong, NJ on April 11, 1930 to the late Luigi and the late Louisa (Grassucci) Lucatelli, Leon was a proud and decorated veteran in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart. Leon worked as a butcher for Ronetco Supermarkets, Inc at their various area Shop Rite locations until his retirement.
Leon was a member of the Assumption Society and a parishioner of St. Michael RC Church, Netcong. He was a dedicated member of LaRusso Fireworks and was instrumental in the manufacturing of fireworks for many displays. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially during the annual Feast of the Assumption parade and festival held every August.
Leon was predeceased by his wife; Marie in 2011, his sisters; Jennie McCarthy, Aurelia Smith and Frances Esposito and brothers; Aldo Lucatelli and Louis Lucatelli.
Survivors include his children; Angela Baumiller (Paul), Louis Lucatelli (Carol), Vincent Lucatelli and Leon Lucatelli, grandchildren; Rebecca Giarritta (Greg), Seth Baumiller (Sarah) and Anthony Lucatelli and a great grandson; Carmine Giarritta. Additional survivors include many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Leon's Life Celebration will include visiting hours on Wednesday May 14 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday May 15 beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Michael RC Church, Netcong. Family and Friends are invited to meet directly at church for Mass. Leon will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Stanhope Union Cemetery, Mt. Olive Township. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Tunnel to Towers at www.t2t.org.
