Obituary of Terri Banta

In Loving Memory of Terri A. Banta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Therese Anne “Terri” Banta (nee Bush), who left us far too soon on May 16, 2025, at the age of 66.  A beloved wife, devoted mother and grandmother, loving sister, and unforgettable friend; she leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and love.

Terri was the cherished wife of Robert George Banta for 37 years, and the proud mother of two sons, Brendan Robert Banta and Ryan James Banta, who will forever carry her spirit with them.  Her heart belonged to her three beautiful grandchildren, Jacie Christine Banta, Jackson James Banta and James Robert Banta, who brought her great joy.

Terri grew up in Fairview and was a proud alumna of Cliffside Park High School. She lived in Landing for many years, where she raised her sons and built a life filled with dedication and love. Terri worked tirelessly throughout her career, never shying away from a challenge. She began her professional journey at Clark O’Neill and most recently served as a Senior Pharmaceutical Administrative Assistant at Celgene Corp. Terri had a passion for cooking, gardening, and creating arts and crafts, which brought joy to those around her.

Predeceased were her parents, George A. Bush (2000) and Anne M. Bush (2019); and her sisters, Bonnie Anne (1978) and Mary Margeret (1954).

Survived by her sisters, Patricia A. Smera (Fairview), Anne Marie May (Fairview), Catherine A. Annunziata (Washington), Elizabeth A. Telepan (Caldwell), and Georgeann Summers (Wanaque). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Born with the bluest eyes that could light up a room and a laugh that was utterly contagious, Terri had a magnetic spirit. Terri always set an example of inspiration—with a strong work ethic, resilience, grit, and unwavering love.

She was the life of every party, with a vivacious personality that made everyone feel welcome. Whether dancing, telling a great story, or raising a glass with friends, she lived her life boldly and unapologetically.

Though she left us too young, Terri’s spirit remains deeply rooted in the lives she touched. Her laughter and her love will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her.  Terri will be missed more than words can say.

Terri’s Life Celebration will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home in Landing, New Jersey.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 10am St. Jude Roman Catholic Church in Hopatcong, New Jersey.
