Obituary of Marilyn Bassin

Marilyn Bassin of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Hackettstown Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.   She was 74 years old.  Marilyn was born on July 3, 1950 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Joseph and the late June (Ryan) McCabe.

Marilyn was born in Jersey City, NJ where she raised her family before moving to Hopatcong in 1996.  She worked at Rockaway Bedding for many years before retiring. Marilyn enjoyed watching TV and traveling to the Caribbean but most importantly, she loved spending time with her large and loving family and her canine companion, Monty.

Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Al,  her children; Christine McGrath and her husband, Michael McGrath, Susan Vicari and her husband, Joe Vicari and Jeanie Fortunato.  Additional survivors include her cherished grandchildren, Joey Vicari and his wife, Shannon, Matthew Vicari, Julia Fortunato and Angelo Fortunato.  Her siblings; Joseph McCabe, Carol McCabe, David McCabe and his wife, Eileen, Janet Davis, Debbie Dachniewicz, Steven McCabe, June Mary Jobless and her husband, Glenn, Timothy McCabe and his wife, Vicki, Theresa Weber and her husband, Scott and many extended relatives and many dear friends – especially Richard and Terry Davis.  She was pre-deceased by her sister, Kathy and her brother, Alan McCabe.

Marilyn’s Life Celebration Services will include a Visitation on Wednesday, June 4^th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850.  There will be a funeral mass on Thursday morning June 5^th at 10:00 am at St. Jude RC Church, 40 Maxim Drive in Hopatcong, NJ.
