Obituary of William "Bill" Neal

William “Bill” Neal of Newton, NJ and formerly of Lake Hopatcong passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Barn Hill Care Center surrounded by his loving family.   He was 71 years old.  Bill was born on April 23, 1954 in Paterson, NJ to the late E. Ronald Sr. and the late Marcella (Casson) Neal.

Bill was a long-time resident of Lake Hopatcong, NJ and Newton, NJ .  He was employed by the Highland Workshop in Franklin, NJ for many years. In addition, Bill was the conductor of the SCARC Chorus.  Bill truly enjoyed “Lake Life” especially boating, swimming and water skiing on his beloved Lake Hopatcong.  Bill was also fond of bowling and playing the guitar but most importantly, he cherished his time with his loving family and many dear friends. 

Bill is survived by his brother, E. Ronald Neal, Jr., his sisters-in-law, Marlene Neal and Jane Neal and his cherished nieces and nephews; Kelly Neal-Freda, Ron Neal, Brian Neal, Marlene White, Katie Sellers, Bob Neal and Jennifer Saltzman.  Additional survivors include 23 great nieces and nephews, 5 great-great nieces and nephews and many dear friends .  He was pre-deceased by his brother, Robert Neal.

Bill’s Life Celebration Services will include a Visitation on Thursday, June 12^th   from 9:00 am to 10:30 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.   There will be a Funeral Mass offered on Thursday morning, June 12^th at 11:00 am at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 204 Espanong Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ.  Bill will be laid to rest in his family plot at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Totowa, NJ immediately following the funeral mass on Thursday.
