Obituary of John Landers

John Landers, 69, of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday June 22, 2025 at Newton Medical Center, Newton, NJ surrounded by his loving family.

Born on November 27, 1955 in Newark, NJ to the late George and the late Margaret (McCann) Landers, John has resided in Clifton, NJ prior to moving to Hopatcong in 1984. John retired as the manager of the theater at County College of Morris, Randolph, NJ.

John enjoyed reading, theater, playing Dungeons & Dragons and watching Westerns and "really bad" Science-Fiction movies. John also enjoyed telling puns, listening to classic rock music and following the news, however, John's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by brothers; Thomas Landers and Paul Landers.

Survivors include his wife; Kathleen (Donnelly) children; Gregory Weidenbaum and spouse; Elizabeth, Jennifer Benstraum and spouse; Sarah, grandchildren; Jacob & Abigail Weidenbaum and Gabriel Benstraum, siblings; Kathleen Landers, Mark Landers and spouse; Margo and David Landers and many beloved nieces and nephews.

John's Life Celebration will include a memorial visitation on Saturday June 28, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A eulogy will begin at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages donations in John's memory to the American Civil Liberties Union at www.aclu.org.
