Obituary of Barbara E. Rollin

Barbara Elizabeth (Doyle-McShea) Rollin, 76, of the Succasunna section of Roxbury Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 20, 1949, in Astoria, NY, Barbara was the daughter of the late James and Virginia (Gerdes) Doyle. She grew up in North Babylon, NY, and attended North Babylon High School. She later earned her nursing degree from Flushing School of Nursing and went on to receive an Associate’s Degree from County College of Morris in Randolph, NJ.

Barbara resided in Florham Park, NJ, for over forty years, where she lovingly raised her two daughters. In 2017, she moved to Succasunna to be closer to family.

A devoted and compassionate healthcare professional, Barbara worked as a Registered Nurse, primarily in emergency rooms at St. Mary’s Hospital and Orange Memorial Hospital in Orange, NJ, as well as Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, NJ. Later in her career, she worked at Hanover Endoscopy Center in Whippany, NJ. Barbara was deeply respected in her field and maintained lifelong friendships with many of her colleagues.

In 2007, Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Donald Rollin. Together, they shared a love for fine dining, travel, and completing the New York Times Sunday Crossword Puzzle.

Barbara’s greatest joy in life came from her family. She is survived by her cherished daughters, Kelly (McShea) Stephens and Shannon (McShea) Maldonado and her husband, Luis; her beloved grandchildren, Amanda (Stephens) Werner and her husband, Randy, Sarah Stephens, Melina Maldonado, and Alex Maldonado; and her adored great-grandson, Beau Werner. She also leaves behind her stepsons, Christopher Rollin and his wife, Jamie, and their sons, Donnie and Dalton; and Joseph Rollin and his wife, Nicole, and their daughters, Selia and Talia.

Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her siblings: Christine Doyle and her husband, Konrad Cailteux; Jeanne Foos and her partner, Joseph Corrao; Virginia Sobol; and James Doyle. She is also survived by her nieces Cheryl, Jessica and Jackie, nephews Richard and Daniel, extended family members, and dear friends.
