Obituary of Lina Pfund

Lina Pfund, 90, of Monroe, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 9, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY.

Born in Venice, Italy on December 16, 1934 to the late Luigi and Virginia Ortolan, Lina came to the United States in 1959, settling in New York City and has resided in Monroe for 20 years.

Lina was a dedicated homemaker most of her life, but also worked as a laboratory technician during her time in Switzerland.

Lina was very "crafty" and artistic. She sewed, made clothing, fixed things, embroidered, enjoyed needlepoint, knitted and drew pictures at times. She did origami, enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. Lina loved spending time with her grandchildren. She made princess costumes for her granddaughter, played with her grandsons and loved listening to music. She was always concerned with her family abroad and always wanted to keep in touch with everyone and make sure everyone was doing well. She took great care of people, was very self-less and caring, not only with her family but with friends and strangers alike.

Lina was Catholic and had strong faith in God. She enjoyed attending Mass when she was able.

Lina was predeceased by her husband; Gotthard and her siblings; Sergio, Bertilla and Albino.

Survivors include her children; Dino Pfund, Jackie Kuti and Michaela Ortolan, grandchildren; Danica Kuti, Steven Kuti, Aaron Pfund, Francesco Giusti and Alexander Giusti and siblings: Luciano, Paulo and Maria.

Lina's Life Celebration will include a memorial gathering on Saturday July 19 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A prayer service will be offered at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Lina's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
