Obituary of Luis H. Castaneda

Luis H. Castaneda, 70, of Succasunna, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Denville.

Born on October 7, 1954 in Colombia to the late Hernando Castaneda and Maria (Luz) Castaneda. 

Luis was an owner operator back in Colombia and worked for PC Richards & Sons in New Jersey for many years.  Luis enjoyed detailing his own cars, his families and was an all around repairman on all cars. He loved to take walks and spend time with his dog. He belonged to the Iglesia Alianza Cristiana y Misionera.

Luis is survived by his loving wife Mercedes (Diaz)  His children Angelica Melendez-Castaneda, Johana Cataneda, Alex Castaneda and Christian Castaneda. His siblings Carlos, Tito, Leisa, Edgar and Patricia. His  cherished grandchildren Anthony, Juancamilo, Gizelle, Milania,Jocelyn, Angelina, Andrew, Thiago and Luciano.  

Luis’s Life Celebration will be held on Friday August 8, 2025 from 4-8 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850. A prayer service will be held on Saturday, August 9 at 9:30am at the funeral home. Luis will be laid to rest at the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Succasunna.
