Obituary of Luz E. Ortiz

Luz  E. Ortiz of Hopatcong, NJ (Formerly of Teaneck, NJ) passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville, NJ surrounded by her loving family.   She was 87 years old.  Luz was born on September 21, 1937 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to the late Pedro and the late Monserrate Pineiro Rios.

Luz was a long-time resident of Teaneck, NJ before moving to Hopatcong, NJ a short time ago.   Luz was employed for many years as a sales associate for several large retailers before retiring.  She enjoyed cooking and traveling but most importantly, Luz loved spending quality time with her loving family and friends.

Luz is survived by her devoted sons, Peter Ortiz, Jr. and Daniel Ortiz, her cherished grandchildren, Debra and Matthew and many extended relatives and dear friends.  Luz was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Pedro Ortiz in 1994.

Luz’s  Life Celebration Services will include a Visitation on Thursday, September 11^th  from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850.   There will be a Prayer Service offered on Friday morning September 12^th at 10:00 am also at the funeral home.  Luz will be laid to rest with her husband at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Rd, Paramus, NJ.
