Obituary of Ron Neal

Ron Neal formerly of Paterson, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at his home in Richmond, Virginia surrounded by his loving family.  He was 83 years old.  Ron was born on June 5, 1942 in Paterson, NJ to the late Edward Ronald Neal, Sr. and the late Marcella Casson Neal.

Mr. Neal graduated St. Mary’s High School in Paterson, NJ and then attended Fairleigh Dickerson and St. Peter’s University.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force Reserves.  Mr. Neal had a long and varied career.  He first worked for his grandfather’s plumbing company at WM Neal & Sons Plumbing. Ron then went to work at the Passaic Valley Water Commission where he became the General Water Superintendent and retired after 25 years of service.  Ron was a devout catholic and a Knights of Columbus fourth degree night.  Throughout his life, Ron was a parishioner at St. Mary Help of Christians RC Church (Paterson), Immaculate Conception RC Church (Franklin), Our Lady of the Lake RC Church (Sparta) and more recently St. William the Abbot RC Church (Howell). 

Ron was an avid New York Giants and Notre Dame Football Fan but his greatest joy was watching his grandchildren participate in all their sporting events.  Ron enjoyed biking, golfing with friends and traveling with his wife.  Ron had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.  He loved an ice-cold Irish car bomb at his favorite pub but most importantly, he cherished his time with his large and loving family and many friends. 

Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Marlene (Pasquariello), his devoted children; Ronald E. Neal and his wife, Jennifer, Kelly Neal-Freda and her husband, Philip, Brian P. Neal and his wife, Kelly and Marlene A. White, 15 cherished grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren (and 1 on the way).  He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Robert Neal and William “Bill” Neal and his son-in-law, Brian White.

Ron’s Life Celebration will include a visitation on Sunday, September 14^th from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850.  There will be a Funeral Mass offered on Monday, September 15^th at 10:00 am at St. Mary Help of Christians, 410 Union Ave #420, Paterson, NJ.  Family and friends are invited to meet directly at the church on Monday morning.

Ron will be laid to rest privately and at the convenience of the family.
