Obituary of Madelyn E. Walrod

Madelyn E. Walrod, of Mt. Arlington, NJ passed away Friday September 12th at Merry Heart Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was 80 years old. Madelyn was born on January 2, 1945, in Lewiston, ME to the late Thatcher Rathbun and the late Hazel (Meade) Rathbun. Mrs. Walrod graduated from Parsippany High School, where she went on to then graduate from Murray State with a degree in Education. She would teach Home Economics as well as a serve as Cheerleading Coach for Hanover Park High School for 33 years before her retirement in 2000. Madelyn was a Member of the Lake Hopatcong Elks Lodge 782. She was a board member along with being a member of the Lake Hopatcong Darting Association. She was an active member of the Mt. Arlington Seniors. Madelyn loved her trips to Atlantic City, along with spending time with friends and family. Madelyn is predeceased by her husband Fred Walrod, sisters; Connie Foster and Susan Rathbun and brother: Bill Rathbun. Survivors include her twin sister Marilyn Good and husband; John, brother; Bentley Rathbun and wife; Razell, brother-in-law; Ronald Foster and sister-in-law; Brenda Rathbun. Madelyn was also the beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Madelyn's Life Celebration will include a Memorial Visitation on Saturday September 27 from 12:00-4:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ.
