Obituary of Alfred "Freddy" Mazzella

Alfred "Freddy" Mazzella of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 91 years old. Alfred was born on August 20, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to the late John and the late Rosalie Aversano Mazzella.

Alfred was a longtime resident of Hopatcong. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Alfred was a Master Plumber employed by Honeywell and also was self-employed during his long and prosperous career in the Master Plumbing Industry. Mr. Mazzella was a very generous and selfless man. He was known to always be available to help and to support those who needed him most. He enjoyed cooking and watching The New York Yankees and old war movies on television, but most importantly, Alfred loved spending time with his loving family and many friends.

Alfred is survived by his children; Christine Mazzella, Andrew Mazzella and Lisa Trautmann and his cherished grandchildren; Andrew, Angela, Gina, Michelle, George and Michael. Additional survivors include his sister, Regina Myzak and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Eileen in 2009 and his brothers; Frank, John, Tony, Patty and Joe.

Alfred's Life Celebration Services will be held on Wednesday, September 24th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850. There will be a funeral mass offered on Thursday, September 25th at 10:00am at St. Jude RC Church, 40 Maxim Drive in Hopatcong, NJ. Alfred will be laid to rest with his wife at Union Cemetery in Hackettstown, NJ.
