
Obituary of Anna Blanco
Anna Blanco 98 of Landing, NJ passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Merry Heart Assisted Living, Succasunna, NJ. She was born on September 20, 1927, in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Frances and Frank Passanante.
Anna graduated from William L. Dickinson High School, Jersey City in 1945. In 1949, she married the love of her life, John A. Blanco, who predeceased her in 2014. They moved to Lake Rogerene, Landing, NJ in 1959 and became very involved in the community, both giving dedicated service to Mt. Arlington. John held many positions including Chief of Mt. Arlington Fire Department. Anna, side by side with the love of her life, served on the Mt. Arlington Women's Auxiliary. The community was one of their great passions. Anna worked for the US Postal Service over decades and was a mainstay at the Mt. Arlington Post Office. Her caring ways always comforted the public. She and John loved their time together and enjoyed all the dances, events, Lake Rogerene community get togethers with friends over decades. She was a devout Catholic and in her later years, if unable to attend church, would always watch Sunday services on the television. She was deeply loved by her husband, her family and her friends as she gave so much comfort and compassion to all those whose lives she touched. She will be truly missed and never forgotten.
She is survived by her daughter, Madeline (Lynn) Blanco, Hopatcong, and her son John Blanco, Landing. Her son Jerry of Florida predeceased her in 2013. She also is survived by her granddaughter Kimberly [Anthony] Altman and great grandson A.J. Altman of Crystal River, Florida, her brother and wife Albert and Deanna Passanante, Landing, her sister-in-law, Ginny Passanante, Cherry Hill, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband John and son Jerry, she was predeceased by her sister Jennie Passanante Quaranta, sister-in-law Antoinette Blanco Passanante, brothers Charles, John, and Frank.
Anna's Life Celebration will include visiting hours on Wednesday October 15 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 204 Espanong Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 9:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Dover
