Obituary of Ernest Gefert

Ernest Gefert of the Landing section of Roxbury Twp., NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 94 years old. Ernest was born on November 4, 1930 in Czechoslovakia to the late Robert Edelman and the late Margita Gefert.

He served in the Czechoslovakia Armed Forces and then immigrated to the United States. Ernest was a longtime resident of Landing, NJ and was employed as an Electrical Engineer Manager at CBS in New York City for many years before retiring. Mr. Gefert was a history buff who enjoyed traveling and flea markets but most importantly, he cherished his time with his loving family.

Ernest is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Petronila, his devoted children; Nancy Gefert and Christian Gefert, his cherished grand-daughter; Alia, his brother, Otto Edelman and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ernest's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Wednesday, October 22nd from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Catholic Prayer Service offered at 6:30pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850.
