Obituary of Joseph Kovalcik Jr.

Joseph A. Kovalcik, Jr., 54, of Succasunna, New Jersey, passed away on October 24, 2025, at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover, New Jersey. Born in Dover and raised in Kenvil, Joe was a lifelong Morris County resident. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Montclair State University and dedicated his career to serving local communities as a respected municipal and county finance officer. Joe was married to the love of his life, Katelin Lorito, and was a proud and devoted father to Lana Rose Lorito-Kovalcik and Alexander Joseph (AJ) Lorito-Kovalcik, and a caring stepfather to Jacob Schuchman. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Joseph A. Kovalcik, Sr. and Anna (Catapano) Kovalcik. A lifelong New York Yankees enthusiast, Joe loved sharing his passion for the game with his family and friends. He was affectionately known as the "Big, Bad Cheer Dad" at his daughter's cheerleading competitions—always the loudest supporter in the stands and the one who could bring a smile to everyone's face. At home, he cherished every moment with his children—especially being the one who always tucked his son into bed at night. Joe will be remembered for his sense of humor, generous spirit, and deep love for his family. His kindness and laughter will be forever missed by all who knew him. Joe's Life Celebration will include a Memorial Visitation on Saturday November 1, 2025 from 1:00-5:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A family eulogy and remembrance service will begin at 4:30 PM at the funeral home. All other services are private.
