Obituary of Douglas Wikiera

Douglas E. Wikiera, or as most fondly refer to him "Jeep," 82, of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Jeep was born on December 3rd, 1942 in Donora, PA. His family then moved to NJ, where he attended different schools in Paterson and Elmwood Park. There he discovered his many talents including music and art. Jeep earned a scholarship for art, however, decided to join the Navy. He served in the United States Navy as a sailor aboard the U.S.S. Warrington. Upon his discharge, he proudly was employed as a heavy machine operator at PSE&G for 35 years. Through these years he and his wife raised their family in Hopatcong and traveled the country in their camper making countless memories. He loved to build, fix, and create. He is predeceased by his mother Betty Wikiera and his sister Patricia Girone. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Beverly, his two daughters, Jennifer and Malinda or as he referred to them Jennie and Mindy, and his grandchildren, Ryan, her husband James, Shane, Jaxon, and many granddogs. Jeep's Life Celebration will be held at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850, on Sunday, November 9th from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. Some causes near and dear to his heart were helping animal rescues, preserving national parks, and supporting fellow veterans.
