Obituary of John Wrobleski
John J. Wrobleski was born February 6,1947 in Elizabeth, NJ to John and Philomena Wrobleski. Johnny was well on his way to independence within a couple years as his parents began building their house on Brooklyn Road in Stanhope. His curiosity and adventurous spirit had him helping and learning the basics. There were many relatives, friends and neighbors to socialize and be creative with.
He was brought up to do his chores, homework, be observant, think for himself and not be afraid to try something new. He had a great appreciation for nature and what it had to offer. However, with the garden, Dad taught all the children how to use the .22 rifle to shoot groundhogs and rabbits.
Johnny acquired many talents watching his mom maintain a household and his dad fix things and work on the car. A sense of humor was instilled throughout. There were bike rides, chemistry sets, building tree forts, cave exploring and hanging out at the lake to name a few. Many were mentored and encouraged, instilling a healthy respect while of course, having fun.
And thus the groundwork was set for Johnny.
In Sept 1961, the experiences broadened starting at Netcong High School. New subjects and teachers, new and old friends and all kinds of worlds opening up. Science was a favorite subject. He graduated 1965 and continued many friendships with school mates from then on.
Some time after graduating, John worked at Two Guys where his Spanish classes proved helpful. From there he attended RETS - Radio, Electronics and Television School. When he was drafted into the Army, he attended OCS, was classified in radio repair and stationed in Germany.
After discharge John was employed by NJ Bell in the central offices working on trunk lines and main frame wiring. This was when he came in contact with Lynn as they worked over the phone on routing and communication issues. As they became acquainted they had their first date in October 1969. With their first kiss on October 12, 1969, which they always celebrated, they became soul mates and were married August 8, 1970.
Lynn continued working at NJ Bell and John attended college, acquiring a degree in Science and MicroBiology. Both worked diligently achieving degrees and shared many common interests. They spent time with family, had many friends and enjoyed their life together. Forever sweethearts.
Their first home was in Cranberry Lake. Later they purchased 5 acres in Green Township and began building their forever home in 1991. They both had a love of home, nature, cats, cars, especially Corvettes, and politics. Both well educated and respected, they were involved with many clubs, committees and organizations like the Republican GOP, NRA and Cops and Rodders.
One of John's life works was a 1965 Corvette Stingray for which he designed custom built twin turbo chargers. The car made the cover and feature article of June 1998 Corvette magazine. He also restored Lynn's 1963 Corvette coupe. They spent many a summer evening socializing at different car cruises in the area.
John was a very bright chemist inventor. Per a colleague he brought a great deal of knowledge to Hercules from experience gained at Becton Dickenson, Diamond Shamrock and Chloroben. Notably using green methods for paper industry byproduct recycling. He was known by his colleagues as a critical thinker both about chemistry and life. He was a Technical Manager involved with technical writing, regulations and product development and improvement. He was highly valued and regarded for his knowledge and sense of humor. John held several patents and made many contributions to the advancement of Hercules. He retired in 2007 because "work interfered with the time he needed to complete his personal projects".
John was loved, respected and admired by many many people. He was happy to help and educate others. His sense of humor and mischief was enjoyed by all. He loved desserts and talking with family and friends. In March 2025 he visited his sister Joan and brother Robert in Oceanside, CA and met their friends and families.
John has now joined his wife Lynn who passed April 19, 2019. He will be greatly missed but we are happy he is reunited with Lynn as he loved her most of all.
John is survived by sister Joan Wrobleski-Olah, brothers Robert Wrobleski and Philip Wrobleski, sister-in-law Rita Devone, nephews John P. Wrobleski (wife Jennifer and great nephew Charlie Wrobleski) Alexander Wrobleski (intended Melaina Migliorino) Cameron Calios, Christopher Devone and niece, Nicole Munoz. Also beloved cats Merlin and Reagan.
