Obituary of Eugene Babstock

Eugene Babstock, 81, of Hopatcong, NJ passed away peacefully on Monday December 15, 2025 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Brooklyn, NY on December 16, 1943 to the late John and Isabelle (Brickley) Babstock, Eugene grew up in Brooklyn, NY and resided in Hopatcong for 55 years. He first worked as a Pressman and later as a Machinist, for the New York Daily News once he retired from the NY Daily News, he drove a School Bus for Byram Bus, Lakeland Bus, and Golden Coach. Eugene enjoyed the great outdoors! He was a hunter, fisherman, he especially loved GeoCaching. He was also an avid reader and was a huge fan of JRR Tolkien. Survivors include his devoted wife; Fern (DeQuar), daughter; Fern Chiarella and her husband; Michael and their children Carly, Nicholas and Christopher, His son Michael J. Babstock and his wife Myra. The family is planning a Celebration of Eugene's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Tunnel to Towers or National Park Foundation.
