Maria Saftoiu, born December 27, 1938, in Bucharest, Romania, passed away on May 25, 2020. She was the cherished daughter of Stefana and Constantin Fratila and a beloved sister to Niculina. A college graduate and civil engineer, Maria brought intelligence, precision, and quiet determination to her work. At home, she was the heart of her family. A passionate cook and baker, she created a kitchen filled with warmth, comfort, and tradition. Her generosity was steady and practical, and she was always ready to reach out to those in need.

Petre Saftoiu, born October 18, 1931, in Husnicioara, Romania, passed away on January 31, 2026. The son of Maria and Gheorghe Saftoiu, he was a man of curiosity, discipline, and deep thought. A college graduate and accountant, Petre was valued for his kind nature, genuine goodwill toward others, and congeniality. He had a lifelong passion for learning, especially foreign languages, and believed in caring for both body and mind. He embraced physical activity, natural supplements, and homeopathy, always seeking balance and vitality. His thoughtful approach to life inspired those around him.

Together, Maria and Petre were devoted parents to their sons, Dan and Radu. Their greatest pride was the family they raised and nurtured, and the values they passed on through example more than words.

Maria and Petre Saftoiu will be remembered for their intellect, quiet strength, and the frugality and simplicity with which they lived their lives. Their legacy endures through their children, extended family, and all who were fortunate enough to know them. Though they are gone, the love they gave so freely remains forever.

A Life Celebration in honor of Maria and Petre will include a memorial gathering on Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 2:00-4:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in their memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
