Obituary of Joan Elsie Finlay

Joan Elsie (Wood) Finlay, formerly of Ringwood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 1, 1938, in Paterson, New Jersey, to the late James P. Wood and Elsie (Mayer) Wood.

A graduate of local schools, Joan completed 12 years of education and went on to build a successful career as an office manager and in sales, where her dedication, organization, and gracious personality earned her the respect and friendship of colleagues and clients alike.

Joan found great joy in interior decorating, gardening, cooking, travel, and the arts. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. Her Methodist faith was an important part of her life and guided her kindness and generosity toward others.

Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband, William S. Finlay, and her brother, Robert Wood. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Kim Alison Finlay-Tozzi and husband Joe; and Karen Beth Gianoulis and husband Steve, who were the pride and joy of her life.

She was a cherished grandmother to Francesca Price and husband Arin; Analise Gianoulis; Alessandra Tozzi; Hailey Gianoulis; and Joseph William Tozzi. Joan was also blessed with a great-grandson, Luke Price, who brought her immense happiness.

Joan will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her loving heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she cherished.

Joan will be laid to rest at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey, where she will be reunited with her husband.
