Obituary of Gerald L. Burt

Gerald L. "Jerry" Burt, 81, of Netcong, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 14, 1944, in East Orange, NJ, Jerry was the son of the late Gerald E. and Lillian I. (Smith) Burt. He lived in Netcong for many years and was a well-known and friendly presence in the community. Jerry worked for many years as an Auto Industry Administrator before his retirement. He was also a faithful member of St. Michael's Church in Netcong. Jerry had a deep appreciation for music and enjoyed playing the guitar in his spare time. He loved spending time outdoors, whether fishing or tending to his yard, and took great pride in caring for his home. Above all else, Jerry's greatest happiness came from being with his family, sharing laughter, stories, and everyday moments together. He is survived by his beloved wife, Theresa (Milone) Burt; his sons, Eric Burt and his wife Colleen, and Michael Burt and his wife Rachel; and his cherished grandchildren, Brendan, Reagan, and Henry. Jerry is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, and best friends, Rita and Joseph Juliano; his niece, Jessica Butler; and his loyal dog, Missy. He will also be fondly remembered by many loving neighbors and friends whose kindness and companionship meant so much to him. Jerry's Life Celebration will include visiting hours on Wednesday, March 18, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850. A prayer service will be offered on Thursday, March 19, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Jerry will be laid to rest at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jerry's memory to a local cancer charity of your choice.
