Obituary of Phyllis Betty Mazzilli

Phyllis Betty Mazzilli, 72, of Hopatcong, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at St. Clare’s Hospital, Denville Campus, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 30, 1953, in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Harry and Nettie (Kushneruk) Lutz, Phyllis lived in Hopatcong for many years. She was a devoted fan of the New York Mets and enjoyed watching their games on television.

Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband, Robert John, Sr.; her children, Wendy Sutton and Robert John, Jr. and his wife Cindy, grandchildren Heather & Amanda Sutton, Aaliyah & Luke Mazzilli, her brothers, Harry Lutz & Dennis Lutz and his wife Julianne and sister-in-law Lisa Lutz. She also leaves behind additional family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Phyllis was predeceased by siblings Arlene Vicari and her husband Joseph, Sr., Marilyn Giordano and her husband Frank Giordano, Joanne Stolz and her husband Richard Stolz and Thomas Lutz and his wife Sharon.

Phyllis’s Life Celebration will include visiting hours on Thursday, March 26, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, New Jersey. A funeral prayer service will be offered on Friday, March 27, at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Family and friends may gather Friday morning prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ.
