Obituary of Karen M. Pfeiffer

Karen M. Pfeiffer December 10, 1949 – April 1, 2026 Karen M. Pfeiffer, age 76, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026. Born on December 10, 1949, in Union City, New Jersey, she was the beloved daughter of the late Katherine and John Donovan. Karen was the devoted wife of the late Peter Martin Pfeiffer, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage that began on June 9, 1973, at Sacred Heart Church in Lyndhurst, New Jersey. Their love story began during the Vietnam War as pen pals, exchanging heartfelt letters while Peter was overseas—a story Karen cherished and often shared. Their wedding celebration was one she fondly remembered, lasting for hours as family and friends gathered in joy. She was a loving mother to Jennifer (Matthew) Post and Deborah Pfeiffer, and a proud and adoring grandmother to Emma, Carter, and Samuel, who were truly the light of her life. Karen treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren—from trips to Broadway shows and Disney World, to Jersey Shore adventures, lunch and movie dates, and cozy sleepovers filled with laughter and love. Karen spent her early years growing up in Union City and Lyndhurst, New Jersey, and always held a special place in her heart for her lifelong friendships. She delighted in attending high school reunions and keeping in touch with friends through her regular phone calls. Karen and Peter built their life together in Oakland, New Jersey, where they raised their daughters and lived on Oak Street for over 40 years. She was a well-known and beloved presence in the community—someone who knew everyone, and whom everyone knew. After Peter's passing in 2019, Karen made the difficult decision to leave Oakland to be closer to her cherished grandchildren, a move that brought her great joy. Above all, Karen loved her family and friends deeply. Her warmth, kindness, and strong connections with those around her will be remembered always. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Post and her husband Matthew, and Deborah Pfeiffer; her beloved grandchildren, Emma, Carter, and Samuel Post; her sister, Suzann Donovan Dodds; and many extended family members and dear friends. Karen will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
