Obituary of Carolyn Shearer

Carolyn Shearer, of Byram Township, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 15, 1944, in Morristown, NJ, Carolyn was the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Doris (Schneyer) Coughlan.

A longtime resident of Byram Township, Carolyn dedicated many years of her career as a medical receptionist at Dr. Hammerman's office in Boonton, NJ, where she was known for her kindness, warmth, and professionalism.

Carolyn touched every craft you can imagine. She especially enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cross-stitch, often creating beautiful pieces for those she loved. Outside of crafting, Carolyn loved Hallmark movies and the Game Show Network. Nothing delighted her more than finding the 24/7 Hallmark Channel. Above all, Carolyn cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. Her greatest joy came from being surrounded by those she held dear, and she will be remembered for her gentle nature, loving heart, and unwavering devotion to her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, James Shearer; her devoted son, Derrick Shearer; her daughter-in-law, Jessica; as well as several extended family members and many dear friends who will miss her deeply.

A Life Celebration for Carolyn will include a visitation on Monday, April 6, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. Additional services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carolyn's name to the charity of your choice.
