Obituary of Lorraine Smilor

Lorraine Smilor, 93, formerly of Hopatcong, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Care One at Madison in Morristown, NJ.

Born in Paterson, NJ on May 3, 1932, to the late Frank and Mary Jobeless, Lorraine resided in Hopatcong for many years. She worked as a Sales Representative at Jamesway Department Store in Ledgewood, NJ.

Lorraine enjoyed reading and watching classic movies, but her greatest joy was being a loving mother and caring for her family.

Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, Frank J. Smilor, Jr., in 2011.

She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Irwin and her husband Robert, and Vicki Kufta and her husband Richard, four grandchildren; Joseph Viganola and his wife; Ellen, Emily Burrill and her husband; Jack, Samantha Scanlon and her husband; Robert and Jamie Kufta and her fiancé; Sam and three great grandchildren; Alex & Luca Viganola and Mason Scanlon

Lorraine's Life Celebration will include visiting hours on Thursday, April 23 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, April 24 beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Jude's RC Church, 40 Maxim Drive, Hopatcong, NJ. All are invited to meet at church for Mass. Lorraine will be laid to rest with her late husband, Frank J. Smilor, Jr., at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
