Nicholas Magrogan

Obituary of Nicholas Magrogan

Nicholas “Nick” Magrogan of Sparta, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at home supported by his loving family after a courageous year long battle with colon cancer. Throughout his journey, Nick’s strength, courage, and unwavering faith inspired everyone who knew him. Even in the face of immense suffering, he remained grounded in love for his family and trust in God. There is no one he loved more than his wife Jennifer, and children April and Nico.

Nick was born on September 10, 1986 in Teaneck, NJ to Josefa Navarro Magrogan and the late Robert Magrogan. He grew up in Ridgefield Park, NJ and lived in Sparta Township for the past 5 years. He was an insurance claims adjustor with GEICO Insurance Agency, a member at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church in Sparta, NJ and a former youth minister at the Salesian Ministry in South Orange, NJ. In every arena of Nick’s life, he made a significant impact on the people around him.

Nick’s most important aspect of his life, besides his family, was his work with the Salesians of St. Don Bosco. Nick first got involved with the Salesians when he started at Don Bosco High School. He attended leadership retreats, World Youth Days, and service trips which helped him further commit to his faith and brought on the most cherished relationships. Eventually, he was called to the vocation of Salesian Cooperator and made his promise in 2011. Encouraged by the people around him, he served as the Provincial coordinator for Eastern Province from 2021-2024. He was most recently serving as the coordinator of the Don Bosco center in North Haledon. He was often behind the scenes making sure everyone else looked their best.

Nick’s greatest joy was spending quality time with his loving family and his many cherished friends and helping them out with anything they needed. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer; his adoring children, April and Nico; and his loving mother, Josefa Magrogan. Additional survivors include his devoted brother, John Magrogan (Gina), his nieces and nephews—Johnny, Dominic, Christian, and Mary—and many additional extended family members and dear friends.
