Obituary of Theodore Hilger

Theodore Hilger, 89, of Wantage, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Complete Care at Barnhill in Newton, NJ.

Theodore was born on June 26, 1936 in Queens, NY to the late Nelson and the late Elizabeth (McComb) Hilger. He worked for PSE&G in Oradell, NJ until 1999. In his free time, he loved working on cars and making memories with family. He attended St. Jude The Apostle Church in Hamburg, NJ.

Theodore was predeceased by his granddaughter; Andie Nicole Szentadorjany.

Survivors include his wife; Mary Hilger (Trudell), daughter; Margaret Ross, grandchildren; David Ross (Olga), Matthew Ross (Jennifer), Alexandra Helfrecht (Gregory) and great grandchildren; Zeneida, Emitt, Kian, Kinley, Ryan and Ethan.

Theordore's Life Celebration will include visiting on Friday, May 22 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A prayer service will be offered at 11:00 AM Friday morning at the funeral home. Theodore will be laid to rest at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Township immediately following the prayer service.
