Obituary of Joseph McCabe

Joseph McCabe of Mount Arlington, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, June 4. He was born on September 6, 1951, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Joseph McCabe and June (Ryan) McCabe. Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He graduated from William L. Dickinson High School in Jersey City and dedicated 35 years of service to Metro-North Railroad in New York City. Joseph enjoyed spending time at Mount Airy Casino Resort, playing the lottery and was a devoted fan of New York Giants and New York Yankees. He also loved his daily visits to Dunkin' and Jersey Mike's, two of his favorite treats Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and June McCabe; his sisters, Marilyn Bassin and Kathleen McCabe; and his brother, Alan McCabe. He is survived by his siblings: Carol McCabe; David McCabe and his wife, Eileen McCabe; Janet Davis; Debbie Dachniewcz; Steven McCabe; June Mary Jobless and her husband, Glen Jobless; Timothy McCabe and his wife, Vicki McCabe; and Theresa Weber and her husband, Scott Weber. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, with whom he enjoyed playing his favorite "Catch the Dollar" game. Joseph will be remembered for his sense of humor, devotion to family, loyalty to friends, and the joy he brought to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Joseph's Life Celebration will be on Tuesday June 9, 2026 from 3pm-7pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home 150, Landing Road, Landing, New Jersey. Mass will be offered on Wednesday June 10, 2026, 10am at St. Jude Church Roman Catholic Church located at 40 Maxim Drive, Hopatcong, New Jersey.
