Obituary of Joyce Margel

Joyce Margel, 87 of Mount Arlington, New Jersey, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Jamaica to Edith and James Lord. Her life was marked by unwavering faith, compassionate service, and deep devotion to her family and community. Joyce earned a Master's Degree in Theology, a reflection of her lifelong commitment to biblical study and Christian ministry. Throughout her career, she served as an Administrative Assistant for Monmouth County and later for ARC, where she was respected for her dedication, professionalism, and kindness. A faithful member of a Methodist church in Freehold, Joyce devoted much of her life to serving others through her church. She led Bible study groups, provided counseling and encouragement to fellow church members, and organized missionary assignments. Her faith extended beyond her local community through missionary work in Russia and Poland, where she lovingly ministered to and supported orphaned children. Joyce found great joy in cooking for those she loved, tending her garden, studying the Bible, and traveling in service to others. Above all, she cherished her family. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her five beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Joyce is survived by her loving daughter, Andrea Odian, and her husband, Mark Odian, of Landing, New Jersey, and their daughters, Alivia and Alaina Odian. She is also survived by her son, David Margel, and his wife, Cathy Margel, of Tinton Falls, New Jersey, and their children, David, Anthony, and Kaia Margel. Joyce's legacy of faith, compassion, generosity, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church community, and the many lives she touched through her ministry and service. Joyce will be laid to rest at Old Tennent Cemetery, 454 Tennent Road, Tennent, New Jersey. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend the committal services on Thursday, August 13, which will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the cemetery. The service will provide an opportunity to gather in remembrance, offer prayers, and pay final respects as Joyce is laid to rest. The family sincerely appreciates the love, support, and kindness extended to them during this difficult time and welcomes all who wish to honor Joyce's memory.
