Obituary of Karen A. Maguire

Karen A. Maguire, of Stanhope, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2026, at St. Clare's Hospital Dover Campus, surrounded by her loving husband, John. She was 81 years old. Karen was born on June 2, 1945, in Dover, NJ, to the late Leonard and Virginia Fairclough Barkoff. A longtime resident of Stanhope, Karen was employed as an Administrative Assistant with Advanced Digital Data in Flanders, NJ, for many years before retiring. Karen and her beloved husband, John, shared a wonderful life together and enjoyed owning horses and horseback riding throughout their marriage. She also had a love of boating, camping and animals and took great pleasure in the simple things in life. Above all, Karen cherished the time she spent with her husband, John, her extended family, and her many dear friends. She will be remembered for her warm heart, loving nature, and the special place she held in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, John Maguire, and their dog, Jenny. In addition, Karen is survived by several extended family members and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Virginia Fairclough Barkoff. Karen's Life Celebration will include a visitation on Thursday, August 27, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ. A Prayer Service will be offered on Friday morning, August 28, at 10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. The funeral home will open at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning. Karen will be laid to rest at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mt. Olive Township, NJ.
