Obituary of John F. Hogan

John F. Hogan, of Byram Twp., New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Morristown Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was 87 years old.

John was born on May 10, 1939, in New Rochelle, NY, to the late John A. and Margaret C. Hunter Hogan.

John enjoyed a distinguished career as Head of Communications with AT&T in Basking Ridge, NJ, where he worked for many years before retiring. He earned his Master's Degree in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1965.

A devout Catholic, John was a longtime and active parishioner of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Netcong, NJ. He enjoyed traveling and solving crossword puzzles, but what brought him the greatest joy was his family. John cherished caring for his grandchildren & great-grandchild and treasured every opportunity to spend quality time with those he loved.

John is survived by the "Pride of His Life," his beloved bride, Mary Zielinski Hogan, and his devoted children, John I. Hogan and his wife, Arlene; Mary Cay Paternostro; and Karen Hogan. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Angela Hogan, his cherished grandchildren, Tyler, John, Kelly, Katie, Samantha, Brett and his wife, Eirian, Abby and Jack; his great-granddaughter, Olivia; his sister, Margaret Hammond; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Hogan, and his son-in-law, Tim Paternostro.

John's Life Celebration Services will include a visitation on Friday, August 28th, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 29th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 4 Church Street, Netcong, NJ 07857. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at the church on Saturday morning. Following the Funeral Mass, John will be laid to rest at Good Shepherd Cemetery on Airport Road in Green Township, NJ.
