Obituary of Angelo A. Bizzarri
Angelo A. Bizzarri, age 93, passed away peacefully at his home in Succasunna, New Jersey surrounded by his family on October 26, 2017. He was born on August 20, 1924 in Port Morris, New Jersey to Luigi Bizzarri and Louisa Pacifica. He graduated Roxbury High School where he was a standout Football player known as "the bull" for the Roxbury Gaels. He proudly served his country as a veteran of WW II in the Army Corps of Engineers in the Pacific Theatre and was in the first wave of soldiers to storm the Beaches in Luzon, Philippines. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart along with other honors from his grateful nation. His outstanding dance moves led him to win a jitterbug contest, earning him a three day pass which he used to marry his wife of 73 years Rose Pisano at Fort hood in Columbia, South Carolina. Together they had a son and daughter Louis Bizzarri and Sondra De Rosa who blessed them with two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He became known as "The Old Fox" for his savvy and wisdom, earning him the respected role of "Patriarch" for his extended family. With sage advice he was known to nurture, encourage and lend a guiding hand to all that sought is advice. Angelo was an avid hunter, fisherman, and lover of sports. As a member of the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association he refereed and umpired soccer, softball and baseball.
Angelo's Life Celebration will be held on Monday, October 30 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home 150 Landing Road, Landing. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, October 31, at 10:30am at the funeral home. All other services are being conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
