OMG -- I heard this awful news through my friend, Dale, who had to dated Mark for a while. She invited us (Sonja, Isabella, Gretchen) to Raccoon Island one summer and we had a blast playing in the water with all his 'toys' and grilling and plain'ol hooting and howling like little kids! A really Fun time! Gretchen and Dale and Mark all found a Yellow feather! That's how special that gathering was. I had to go back to Iceland, but these friends keep in touch. I am glad I met Mark. He was interesting. I'll always see his Happiness in his face from that weekend.... that's a nice way to remember him.

Just devastating news!
My name is Michael Stelzen. I grew up with Mark and considered him one of my best friends. I moved to FL in 1997, so that would have been about the last time Mark and I saw each other face to face, although we talked a couple of times over the years to catch up, we were really good friends. I briefly lived on Three Sisters Island at the lake, and Mark was one of several friends who were there almost every weekend. He would paddle up on his Kayak, and let out a little turkey call to announce his presence..I dearly miss him....how it goes I guess for many people's old friends from childhood...you tend to live your life and lose track....this one really caught me by surprise. Mark is about the last person I would have expected to hear this about. He was always an athelete and kept himself in great shape. He was also in my opinion one of the most talented drivers of anything that rolled on wheels, he was truly an amazing race driver (I witnessed it...he was scary fast). We shared a true love of all things Porsche and used to crack up leaving each other messages on our ans. machines (remember those?) by speaking in thick phoney German accents...Ex:..Herrr Cruz! This is Hans at the Porsche Factory, I can see EXACTLY what you are doing....STOP IT AT ONCE!!! LOL!! Makes me laugh even now thinking about it! I didn't come here to write a book. I came here because this man was a big part of the good times our entire group of friends had all together at Lake Hopatcong. I actually learned the terrible news from my best friend Dave Maglione, who learned it somehow from our friend Jesper Anderson. Dave was a regular at the lake along with his wife at the time Jeanne. I'm sure Harvey Kweit and Greg Shumway will also be shocked. He will be remembered...bigtime.
So sorry Herr Cruz, I hope all the cars in heaven sport the all important Crest! Hans signing off.
To Cheryl and family, my sincere heartfelt condolences. Feel free to reach out should you ever want to talk about Mark. capitalnote@msn.com

All my life Mark was good friends with my Uncle Gerry and my dad, Bob. I was just a kid but Mark always had the biggest personality and coolest stories, and he was always cruising around in that awesome Sepia Brown 911 SC Targa...! That is what got me into Porsche's actually and now I have a 911 and always remember being a passenger in his in the summer back when everbody did a lot of sailing. You will be missed. Rest in Paradise my friend! - George Snowflack

I met mark just a few yrs ago and we hit it off right away. His cars and patents were fun to discuss. He was a good man. Wish we could have spent more time together.
