Obituary of David S Cruickshank

David S. Cruickshank, Jr., age 92, of Hopatcong, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice in Newton, NJ surrounded by his loving family. David was born on February 9, 1932 in Fairlawn, NJ to the late David S. Cruickshank Sr. and the late Flora (Spilger) Cruickshank.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He met his wife, Grace, in New York in the late 1950's. They started and raised their family in Hopatcong, where they enjoyed spending time on the lake boating and jetsking. David was a Life Member of the Lake Hopatcong Elks Lodge #782 in Mt. Arlington, NJ. David was passionate about race cars and very involved in the racing community. He owned and sponsored modified dirt cars in the Northeast since the early 1970's.

David founded and operated Dover Brake & Clutch, which he started in Dover, NJ in 1963. In 1988, he moved the business to Lake Hopatcong and continued operating it along with his sons.

David is survived by two sons and one daughter, David R. Cruickshank and his wife, Barbara, Todd W. Cruickshank and Renee L. Giovati; four grandchildren, Sean and his wife Melanie, Brian, Danielle, Andrew and his wife, Brielle.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Grace A. Cruickshank in 1981, his son, Scott W. Cruickshank in 1995 and his sister, Marge A. Fierro in 2007.

David's Celebration of Life to be held and announced by the family at a later date.
