Obituary of George Ondish

George Ondish of Largo FL. (formerly of Mt. Arlington) passed away Thursday January 8, 2015 at St. Clare's Hospital, Dover. He was 89. Born in Swoyerville PA, he lived in Mt. Arlington before moving to Largo FL 29 years ago. A Marine Corp. WWII veteran, George was a chief lineman with JCP&L in Landing. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Succasunna, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Largo FL, Harford Congregational Church in Harford PA, Acacia Lodge #20 in Dover and F and AM (a Mason for over 60 years). He also was a FOP Special Officer for 22 years, a member of the Mt. Arlington Board of Health, County Committee, Juvenile Conference Committee and the Hackettstown Coin Club. He enjoyed snowmobiling and spending time with family and volunteering to various services and to others. Beloved husband of Joyce (nee: Hirschfeld). Devoted father of Robert and his wife Pamela, John and his wife Debra and Arthur R. and his wife Yvonne. Cherished grandfather of Christa M. Owen and her husband Scott, Tanya N. O'Toole and her husband Glen, Lindsay Ann Kramer and her husband John, Caitlin Marie Bermil and her husband Eric, John Michael Ondish, Christopher George Ondish, Amy Navaro, Noel Robinson and Stephanie Sutton. Loving great grandfather of 6 great grandchildren. Dear brother of MaryAnn Harrison, the late Robert and the late Joseph Ondish. Dear son of the late George Sr. and the late Mary (nee: Huray) Ondish. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend George's Life Celebration on Tuesday January 13 from 3:00PM to 8:00PM at the Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:15PM. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 203 Eyland Avenue, Succasunna, NJ 07876.
