Obituary of Saveria "Sadie" Canonico

Saveria "Sadie" Canonico of Hopatcong., NJ passed away on Sunday, May 31st at Kindred Hospital at St. Clare's in Dover, NJ surrounded by her loving family. She was 97. Saveria was born in Staten Island, NY on June 16, 1917 to the late Angelo and the late Philomena (Daddato) Maiori. She worked at the Fifth Avenue Card Shop in Manhattan for many years before retiring. Saveria was a longtime resident of Hopatcong, NJ and also lived in Florida for 20 years. She enjoyed reading, rooting for the NY Yankees, but most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Saveria is survived by her devoted daughters, Margaret Nolan & her husband, Ernie and Laurie Solberg & her husband, Glen and her devoted son, Jr. Canonico. Additional survivors include her cherished grandchildren; Kim (Dave) Grinis, Erik (Elizabeth) Nolan & Hayley Solberg and her great-grandchildren; Reece, Cole, Ella, Dina, Ashlyn and Mia . She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Melfino in 1983. Saveria's Life Celebration will include visitation on Thursday, June 4th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, NJ 07850. There will be a funeral mass on Friday, June 5th at 10:00 am at St. Jude RC Church in Hopatcong, NJ. Saveria will be laid to rest at the Queen of Peace Cemetery in North Lauderdale, Florida on Monday, June 8th.
